Twenty-five years of running accounting departments
Ray Del Prado is an accounting executive with over 25 years of experience leading and managing the
accounting departments of Fortune 500 companies and start-up companies. He oversees all aspects of a
company's financial operations: accounting operations — accounts payable, accounts receivable and
payroll — revenue recognition, intercompany accounting, fixed asset accounting, accounting system
upgrades and conversions, new business on-boarding, outsourcing, consolidation and financial reporting.
A decade leading Microsoft's regional accounting teams
The bulk of Mr. Del Prado's accounting experience came after he joined Microsoft, where for a decade he
managed and led their North America, Latin America, and Asia and Pacific accounting teams. His main
responsibility was the entire full accounting cycle for those regions.
He was responsible for numerous process improvements that saved millions of dollars and a great many
hours of work, and he successfully led the accounting team through many of Microsoft's worldwide
projects and new product releases that required accounting innovation. That work included accounting
system upgrades, on-boarding new businesses, products and business lines into accounting, outsourcing
accounting processes, creating new accounting processes, and re-engineering existing ones to be more
cost effective and efficient.
Before Microsoft
Mr. Del Prado helped Harley-Davidson's Financial Services division create their entire accounting
processes, accounting systems and internal controls from scratch. He managed the budget and forecast of
the engineering, IT and HR departments at General Electric. And as an auditor at PricewaterhouseCoopers,
he completed the full cycle financial audit of numerous clients.
Why small business
Ray currently focuses on leading the accounting and finance of a start-up company — in line with his
career plan of specializing in accounting for start-ups and small businesses. Bright Star Bookkeeping
LLC is the expression of that plan: the discipline of a Fortune 500 accounting department, sized and
priced for a business that does not have one.
